Immigration Team Ranked Band 1 in Chambers and Partners 2024

Kenworthy’s Chambers are thrilled to announce that Chambers and Partners have awarded our Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Team Band 1 in their 2024 rankings. 

Not only this, a fantastic six of our Member Barristers were recognised as ‘Notable Practitioners’ in their rankings. 

Chambers and Partners said: “Kenworthy's Chambers is a leading Immigration Law set with a strong bench of experienced Barristers. Members act for a range of claimants, including vulnerable individuals, in asylum, deportation and unlawful detention cases.” 

As a part of Chambers and Partners research into their rankings they interviewed Kenworthy’s clients. Gita Patel

Describing her practice, Chambers and Partners said: “Gita Patel acts exclusively for claimants and attracts praise for her sensitive representation of vulnerable clients, including victims of trafficking and seriously ill asylum seekers. Her areas of expertise include human rights law, asylum and public law issues.”

George Brown

According to Chambers and Partners, “George Brown is a high-calibre Immigration Barrister with an extensive Immigration, Asylum and Nationality practice. He represents individuals in deportation and unlawful detention cases. His recent work has included acting in several judicial reviews.” The legal directory ranked George Brown as Band 1, their highest award.

Shazia Khan

Chambers and Partners say that “Shazia Khan enjoys a fine reputation in the Immigration Law space, handling asylum and nationality law matters and cases with a human rights component. She also has experience in handling country guidance-related work.” Her reputation is further bolstered by her 2024 Band 1 ranking by Chambers and Partners.

Chambers and Partners described Shazia Khan as "A very convincing advocate" and noted that she "Has a wealth of experience and knowledge in this field." They also go on to add: "Shazia is very experienced in immigration matters and able to deal effectively with all types of immigration cases without any issues."

Mark Schwenk

Another of our Member Barristers to be awarded top ranking (Band 1) is Mark Schwenk. “Mark Schwenk is capable of handling the full range of immigration and asylum matters in tribunals and the High Court.” 

“Mark Schwenk is well versed in complex human rights and unlawful detention issues and has a particular focus on EEA rights. He has experience representing colleges whose licence to sponsor international students has been withdrawn.” 

Chambers and Partners describe Mark as “An excellent Immigration Barrister with a very strong grasp of the law and an ability to quickly get to the root of the matter." They go on to say: "Mark Schwenk is very experienced and well able to deal with cases at all levels extremely competently and without fuss."

Jonathan Greer

Chambers and Partners noticed that “Jonathan Greer has established himself as a firm favourite with Immigration Solicitors.” 

They go on to add “He has notable experience in matters relating to deprivation of citizenship and individuals resisting removal” and that he is "Very popular with clients."

Craig Holmes

Craig Holmes is a promising Immigration Practitioner with experience acting in country guidance cases and judicial reviews.” Chambers and Partners also noted that “He has appeared before the Upper Tribunal and Court of Appeal.” Not only this but "He's good at what he does and knows his stuff inside and out." 

For the leading legal directory, "Craig Holmes is a rising star in the immigration field. He is able to grasp complex issues quickly and turn around work in order to meet tight deadlines." Plus, "He is good at coming up with novel legal points."
