Roger Brown and William Donnelly defend Hairdresser who provided false witness statement for Policeman shoplifting

Kenworthy's Chambers | August 15, 2016

Criminal Barristers Roger Brown and William Donnelly have defended a Hairdresser who provided a false witness statement for a Policeman caught shoplifting.

Hairdresser Natalie Leicester agreed to submit a false witness statement to assist Sargeant Richard Pendlebury's acquittal for shoplifting in June, after his partner Zoe Wilkinson asked her to.

Richard Pendlebury was accused of shoplifting from a supermarket and assaulting a Security Guard. His job as a Police Officer was on the line. So, despite not being near the store at the time of the incident, Natalie Leicester agreed to take a typed statement from the couple to Rochdale police station to 'help her friends' as she belevied that by giving the flase statement 'it would all go away and that would be the end of it'.

Roger Brown defended Natalie Leicester at the preliminary hearing held at Minshull Street Crown Court in Manchester last year.

William Donnelly defended Natalie Leicester at her sentencing hearing at Preston Crown Court last week.

The case has been reported in The Telegraph and The Manchester Evening News.

Roger Brown is a long-standing member of Kenworthy's Criminal Team
