Alison's criminal practice includes:
Alison has extensive and broad experience of both the Crown and Appellate Courts. She undertakes both prosecution and defence work in cases of the utmost severity and complexity. In particular, Alison has a wealth of experience in matters of violent crime, serious assaults, sexual offences and drug-related offences including large-scale importation. Her work with young and vulnerable defendants and those with mental health issues who find themselves before the Courts is of particular interest to her.
Murder and Manslaughter
Alison is able to accept instructions in relation to all offences involving homicide.
Rape & Sexual Offences
Alison is particularly sought after for her expertise in sexual offences, both as prosecutor and defence counsel.
Child Abuse and Child Destruction
Alison has experience of dealing with this sensitive area of criminal law and is well-versed in the issues that can arise both pre-trial and in handling witnesses.
Firearms & Other Offensive Weapons
Alison has experience of dealing with offences involving not only firearms but also blades and other instruments.
Drugs Offences and Conspiracies
Alison has considerable experience of dealing with cases that involve allegations of drug-related offending, both possession and intent to supply, and larger scale conspiracy matters.
Mental Health Crime
Alison is a member of the Mental Health team and takes particular interest in defendants who suffer with mental health challenges. In her prosecution practice she has extensive experience of working sensitively with those who have suffered physical, mental and sexual abuse who have gone on to develop mental health issues.
Appellate Practice
Alison has over 20 years experience in the Appellate courts. She undertakes advice work in this area and has appeared for both the prosecution and the defence on numerous occasions.
