Alison Mather Prosecutes Three Lancashire Men handling £100,000 stolen vehicles

Kenworthy's Chambers | June 23, 2016

Alison Mather prosecuted three men who were responsible for handling £100,000 worth of stolen vehicles in a year long period.

The case against Matthew Hartley, Oliver Young and Ronald Gross which involved a nationwide operation with stolen plant machinery, campervans and vehicles from across the country being brought to Burnley and Rawtenstall to re-identified and sold on, was heard in Preston Crown Court where Matthew Hartley and Oliver Young admitted to handling stolen vehicles.

Speaking about the case DC Martyn Leigh said, "These three men have wreaked havoc on innocent peoples’ lives. It is no exaggeration to say these crimes have had a devastating impact on some of the victims. One business folded after having stock stolen, a marriage broke up under the strain and several small businesses suffered financial hardship."

Thankfully, the owners have had their recovered vehicles returned now.

Matthew Hartley was sentenced for 15 months, Ronald Goss for 14 months and Oliver Young was given a 30 week suspended sentence for 18 months with 200 hours unpaid work.

Further investigations are ongoing to recover money and assets from these three men. For further reading on this Criminal Law case be sure to read the ITV News report.
