Underley Hall Residential School Trial Concludes at Carlisle Crown Court

Kenworthy's Chambers | March 22, 2018

A six-week trial took place at Carlisle Crown Court. It involved four former staff members and the former owner of the residential school, Underley Hall, in South Cumbria, who were accused of child cruelty and assault charges dating from the 1970s and 1980s.

The case emerged from "Operation Tweed", an investigation into historical abuse in care institutions in Cumbria by the Cumbria Constabulary.

Patrick Williamson instructed by Thompsons Solicitors, secured an acquittal for his client, James Farish, who had been charged with assault against a former pupil.
