Stephen Tettey Secures Not Guilty Verdict for Father Accused of GBH
Leading
Criminal Barrister,
Stephen
Tettey, has once again secured an acquittal in a case
described by many as carrying impossible odds, reinforcing his reputation as a
formidable courtroom advocate.
His
client was a midlands-based young father who had been accused of ambushing the complainant and unleashing a ferocious,
unprovoked attack.
The
prosecution alleged that the assault caused grievous bodily harm, including
multiple fractures to the face and body and a brain haemorrhage, leaving the
victim with life-threatening injuries.
The
Crown’s case relied on several witnesses, said to have observed a defenceless
victim subjected to sustained violence. The accusations levied at the defendant
were serious and would carry a significant sentence if proven.
From
the outset, the defendant maintained his innocence, asserting that he had acted
in lawful self-defence.
Through
meticulous preparation and piercing cross-examination, Defence Counsel Stephen
Tettey methodically unpicked every strand of the prosecution’s case.
One
by one, the Crown’s witnesses were undermined, discredited, or shown to be
unreliable.
In
a forceful and persuasive closing speech, Stephen drew together the evidential
flaws and contradictions, exposing the fragility at the heart of what had been
presented as an overwhelming prosecution case.
After
careful consideration, the jury returned unanimous not guilty verdicts.
“The
Prosecution Said He Was Guilty of a Ferocious Attack. The Prosecution said he
was guilty of causing life-threatening injuries. Thanks to Stephen Tettey, the jury
said, ‘Not Guilty’.”
This
latest result underscores Stephen Tettey’s standing as a Barrister prepared to
fight relentlessly for his clients, even in the most serious and challenging
cases.
Thanks
to his skill in the courtroom and unwavering commitment to justice, an innocent
man was acquitted, and a young father was able to return home to his family.
