Kenworthy’s Chambers 2026 Legal 500 Immigration Law Rankings
The Legal
500 recognised Kenworthy’s Chambers as a set in Immigration Law, with a record-equalling six of our
member Barristers achieving rankings!
Congratulations
to Gita Patel, Shazia Khan, Mark Schwenk, George Brown, Jonathan Greer, and
Craig Holmes, who were all ranked in the field of Immigration Law in the 2026
Legal 500.
Kenworthy’s Immigration Barristers
The Legal 500 described our Immigration practice, saying, “Kenworthy’s
Chambers has a track record of work for claimants in this space, including
matters relating to right to work enforcement, EU settlement, and refugee
protection.”
Gita Patel
“Gita is
very committed to getting the best results for the client, and she does
thorough preparation for all her cases, and is excellent at challenging
unlawful decisions in the Upper Tribunal.
The leading legal directory ranked Gita Patel as a Tier 1 Leading Junior, saying: “She really fights for her clients
and she is also an excellent, friendly, and helpful colleague.”
Shazia Khan
Legal 500 also ranked Shazia Khan as a Tier 1 Leading Junior, saying:
“Shazia has a vast range of expertise and wealth of knowledge on immigration
and asylum law.
“She provides detailed advice and suggestions, and clients
are suitably impressed by her presentation and argument in court.”
Mark Schwenk
Commenting on Mark
Schwenk’s Immigration Law practice, Legal 500 says, “Mark is very good on
technical issues and matters that are not run-of-the-mill.
“He is always willing to dig for caselaw or policies to deal
with complex matters and to share his knowledge.”
George Brown
Once again, George Brown was also awarded a Tier 1 ranking
by the Legal 500.
The legal directory praised him, acknowledging, “George is
an exceptionally able Barrister with a strong knowledge of the law, excellent
drafting and advocacy skills, and a great manner with clients who he is able to
put at ease.”
Jonathan Greer
Jonathan Greer was also awarded Legal 500’s
top-tier ranking. They said, “Jonathan represents cases to an extremely high
standard, and he is very knowledgeable of the area of the law, very articulate,
and a very strong advocate.
“He is very approachable and supports you in the preparation
of the cases too, and he is always very professional in his approach to his
brief.”
Craig Holmes
The Legal 500 spotlighted one of Craig Holmes’ recent high-profile cases in their 2026 rankings.
“In Court of Appeal case, ASO (Iraq) v SSHD, Craig Holmes
successfully represented an Iraqi Kurd, whose family had connections to the
Ba'ath party, at risk of ‘honour-based violence’ because of his relationship
with a woman whose family were connected with the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan;
at issue was to which a legal error at first instance is material to a case's
outcome.”
Immigration Clerks
Lastly, we should touch on the excellent work our
Immigration Clerks do for our Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Team. The
Legal 500 research team insisted, “The clerks cannot be praised enough. Instructing
counsel at Kenworthy's Chambers is made very easy because of the efficiency of
the clerks.
“Courtney Richards is truly amazing and Daniella Howarth is also fabulous. They respond
swiftly to enquiries and book counsel and send the details and provide all the
fee notes efficiently.”
The Legal 500 editorial commentary added: “Courtney Richards
and Daniella Howarth are excellent. Always respond in a timely fashion and very
helpful. It makes it a joy to instruct the Chambers.”
