Jonathan Greer Appointed as Employment and Immigration Judge
Kenworthy’s
Chambers are pleased to announce that Jonathan Greer has been appointed as both an Employment
Judge and an Immigration Judge.
Jonathan Greer will now sit as a part-time Employment Judge
and part-time Judge of the First Tier Tribunal in the Immigration and Asylum
Chamber, in addition to his role at Kenworthy’s Chambers as a Barrister.
Speaking about his appointment, Practice Manager Maria
Rushworth said, “Congratulations Jonathan we are all delighted for you. You can
be very proud of these appointments. Well done.”
Becoming a Judge involves a lot of preparation with
qualifying tests, interviews, assessments, and a tough application form all
standing in the way of any potential appointment.
The qualifying tests have strict time limits and must be
passed. There are ‘selection days’ where the Judicial Appointment Committee will
interview candidates and test their analytical skills through role play.
Plus, the application form itself demands careful thought.
Examples are required to show quick objective thought and straightforward
communication. A self-assessment must also be completed, necessitating a good
deal of self-reflection.
Judicial appointments are often the culmination of several
years of hard work and planning.
Jonathan Greer will continue his busy practice at
Kenworthy’s Chambers, where he specialises in Immigration,
Asylum and Nationality, Administrative
and Public Law, and Inquests.
This news follows the appointment of Richard
Lees as a Deputy District Judge, which was announced in October 2022.
Please join us in wishing Jonathan Greer great success in
his new part-time roles as an Employment and Immigration Judge!
