Denise Fitzpatrick and John Richards Celebrate CPS Category Upgrades

Kenworthy's Chambers | December 12, 2022

Kenworthy’s Chambers are pleased to announce that Denise Fitzpatrick and John Richards have achieved Level 4 and Level 3 Prosecutor qualifications respectively.

Level 3 and Level 4 Prosecution Advocates are instructed in serious, complex and often sensitive Criminal Law cases.

To be appointed to the CPS Advocate Panel, Barristers must provide three references and two recent examples of drafting to evidence their competency.

As a Level 3 Advocate John Richards has proven he has a strong, up-to-date knowledge of law and practice and can handle sensitive matters in relation to investigation techniques. He also demonstrated the ability to exercise consistently sound judgement and case management strategies.

As a Level 4 Advocate, Denise Fitzpatrick has evidenced that she has a superior grasp of trial advocacy skills for sensitive, high-profile jury trials in the Crown Court including opening, closing, witness handling and legal argument, often in complex multi-handed cases.

Speaking about our Criminal Barristers’ recent achievements, Practice Manager Maria Rushworth said, “Huge congratulations to both Denise and John, Kenworthy’s Chambers are all very proud of your CPS category upgrades and we look forward to receiving higher quality criminal prosecution cases as a result. Well done.”

Denise Fitzpatrick has extensive experience in prosecuting a wide range of serious and complex criminal cases. She leads prosecution cases with skill and diplomacy in the face of hostile opponents and she presents highly proficient written submissions to a standard of excellence.

John Richards is renowned for his excellent communication skills; clients often describe him as extremely approachable. He can conduct confiscation hearings in any of the proceedings in which the applicant may be instructed at Level 3 and he recently had success in his largest prosecution case to date.
