Brett Wilson Appointed as Taxation Disciplinary Board Panel Member

Kenworthy's Chambers | August 1, 2023

Kenworthy’s Chambers are pleased to announce that Brett Wilson has been appointed as a Panel Member for the Taxation Disciplinary Board.

The Taxation Disciplinary Board (TBD) is an independent body that runs the complaints and disciplinary scheme for the Chartered Institute of Taxation (CIOT) and the Association of Taxation Technicians (ATT).

TBD aims to operate a fair system acting in the public interest, handling complaints quickly, impartially and effectively, in an economic way. They have procedures and policies and publish simple guidance for members and complainants on their website.

The panel supports and maintains the high professional standards of the Chartered Institute of Taxation and the Association of Taxation Technicians.

As a Legally Qualified Panel Member for the Taxation Disciplinary Board, Brett Wilson will review complaints against CIOT and ATT members. The TBD makes decisions on whether professional services supplied have been inadequate, on instances of bad conduct from members, and allegations of breaches of professional standards and guidance.

The experienced Barrister will sit as a Panel Member for a term of up to four years, attending panel hearings, deliberating with other Panel Members, and drafting judgements.

Speaking about Brett Wilsons TBD appointment, Practice Manager Maria Rushworth said, “Congratulations on making this next step in your career. This new appointment is undoubtedly a great fit for Brett Wilson and I hope it presents him with opportunities for growth and the chance to build connections.”

On top of his role for TBD, Brett Wilson is also a Legally Qualified Chair of the Investigating Committee Panel (IPC) for the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and Barrister Panel Member at the Bar Tribunal and Adjudication Service.

His practice consists of Family Law (children, domestic abuse and matrimonial finance) and Civil and Commercial. He is a CPS Grade 2 prosecutor and a panel advocate for the HSE.
