Peter Quegan spent 19 years working as a Solicitor and was admitted to the roll of Solicitors in 1991. He worked in a high street practice for four of those 19 years, and as a part of a specialist practice conducting serious Personal Injury claims for 15 years.

Peter Quegan joined the Territorial Army in 1990 and remains a serving member. In 2003 he served a tour in Iraq and in 2004 he attended Staff College. He was awarded the Queen's Volunteer Reserve Medal in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List in 2007.

Before being called to the Bar in 2010, Peter Quegan acted as a Solicitor for claimants from the Royal Navy, British Army and Royal Air Force, referred through the Forces Law network. Peter Quegan has plenty of experience in claims against the MoD and for service personnel generally.

Although still serving in the Army Reserve, Barrister Peter Quegan is cleared to act in cases against the Ministry of Defence (MoD) so long as they do not involve his own chain of command.

Civil Litigation and Costs

Peter Quegan’s Civil Litigation practice covers contract disputes, product liability and professional negligence.

Peter Quegan has regularly appeared in court in civil disputes such as road traffic accidents and Credit Hire dating as far back as Dimond v Lovell in 2000 when as a Solicitor many of his Motorcycle Courier clients used credit bikes to get back to work.

Since coming to the Bar he has regularly represented both claimants and defendants in Credit Hire disputes, often of significant value, although almost always now in car and taxi cases.

He also undertakes mediation both as a representative and as a Mediator. He has developed a particular interest in classic and prestige car disputes, an area in which his ownership of such vehicles gives him a head start in understanding the issues that often arise. He naturally appreciates the sensitivities that often give rise to disputes between classic car owners and classic car restorers and has seen the benefits for both parties of a mediated settlement.
