Sarah Cook, instructed by AGI Criminal Solicitors, successfully represented her client following initial charges of attempted murder, grievous bodily harm with intent, threatening with a knife and attempting to escape lawful custody. The proceedings were lengthy, the offences being committed in 2018, and involved detailed consideration of various provisions of the Mental Health Act 1983.
Sentencing His Honour Judge Conrad QC , noted that "offences of this nature would normally warrant a very long sentence of imprisonment, potentially an extended sentence to protect the Public. However, it is apparent that you were seriously mentally ill at the time... " later sentencing the client to a Hospital Order.
