Criminal Law
Syed Hussain is a Criminal Barrister with a broad practice that encompasses the full spectrum of criminal cases. He is regularly instructed in matters such as assault and violent offences against persons, including domestic violence.
He has experience providing advocacy at trials involving motoring and drug offences. As a Manchester-based Criminal Barrister, Syed Hussain routinely appears in Crown Courts across the Northwest at Plea and Trial Preparation Hearings, Sentences, and Committal for Sentences.
Barrister Syed Hussain is highly skilled in handling vulnerable clients, providing exceptional pre-trial support and reassurance. He is adept at conducting high-stakes conferences with the NCA, the Police, CPS Lawyers, and Defence Solicitors.
Prior to joining chambers, Syed was a Crown Advocate for the CPS, prosecuting a diverse caseload across both the Crown and Magistrates’ Courts. He appeared at the Magistrates' Court prosecuting full trial lists ranging from motoring offences to assaults and drug-related offences.
He completed pupillage at CPS East Midlands in 2025. During which he worked with well-established Crown Advocates and Judges at the Crown Courts, gaining invaluable insights while observing complex defence work. He has built strong professional networks across both the Northwest and the East Midlands.

- R v Sabaa (2026) – Syed Hussain prosecuted the sentence where the defendant was charged with possession with intent to supply class A drugs at Manchester Crown Court, receiving commendation from HHJ Manley regarding his sentencing note.
- R v Clavering (2026) - Successfully prosecuted defendant charged with one count of assault at Manchester Magistrates Court, where the victim denied being assaulted.
- R v Newton (2026) – Criminal Barrister Syed Hussain prosecuted the sentence where the defendant was charged with three counts of making indecent images of children, at Manchester Minshull Street.
- R v Veizaj & Shehu (2025) - Prosecuted the sentence of two defendants charged with the production of class B drugs, cannabis valued at £80,000 at Manchester Crown Court.
- R v Walton (2025) - Prosecuted the sentence where the defendant was charged with aggravated burglary at Leicester Crown Court. The defendant received a sentence of six years and nine months.
