- R v Stanley: In a major police operation dubbed “Operation Oslo”, this drugs importation ‘coopering case’ involved a shipment container with 900 kg of cocaine. Stephen Tettey’s client pleaded guilty but disputed the facts surrounding their involvement. So, a Newton hearing was scheduled to determine their level of involvement. Having successfully proved his client’s version of events, the sentence was 10 years and 8 months, reduced from 26-27 years.
