Alison Mather and Alan Wilson of Chambers recently represented the support staff of Offerton High School in the inquest touching upon the death of Samual Linton, before the Stockport Coroners Court. Samuel was 11 years old when he died on the 4th December 2007 at Stepping Hill Hospital having suffered an asthma attack at school. The Jury, in this Article 2 inquest, returned a verdict of "Natural Causes significantly contributed to by neglect both individual and systemic". During the course if the hearing the Jury heard evidence of a lack of effective systems and inadequate or none existent staff training. In light of this the Learned Coroner, Mr. Pollard, indicated that he would report to a number of agencies and individuals inline with his powers under Rule 43, regarding the lessons to be learned from Samuel's death.
