Experience:

Barry Harwood-Gray practises in: employment law, police regulation, sports law and general regulation. He accepts instructions from solicitors, various organisations and from the public under the Bar Direct Public Access Scheme. Barry Harwood-Gray conducts medico employment law and general employment law cases.

Barry Harwood-Gray also acts in cases before the Solicitors Regulatory Authority (SRA), General Medical Council (GMC), General Optical Council (GOC), General Dental Council (GDC), Nursing and Miwdwifery Council (NMC), General Social Council (GSCC), General Teaching Council (GTC), Health Professions Council (HPC) and police misconduct disciplinary boards (he is a former police officer). He defends professionals in all disciplines facing professional misconduct or competence and impairment allegations. Barry Harwood-Gray also advises on appeals and judicial reviews from regulatory hearings.

Barry Harwood-Gray also acts and advises in Sports Law Cases, including sports regulation, sports rule breaches disciplinary panel hearings, and sports related employment law.

Employment Law:
Barry Harwood-Gray has substantial experience in many complex discrimination claims. He has dealt with high profile, lengthy, and difficult employment discrimination cases. Previously he was an employed barrister, working as Head of Legal Services at a large employers' organisation. Representing more than 900 companies from SME, to blue chip, corporate, international and global employers he was responsible for providing employment law advice, advocacy and training. He has also worked for Eversheds LLP.

He gained Partner level management experience in positions including Head of Employment Law and Director of Employment and Training at well known regional solicitors firms.

Barry Harwood-Gray also holds two senior fractional academic appointments, and is an advocacy trainer. He is a Senior Lecturer in Law, and subject leader in Employment Law  and ethics and conduct on the Bar Professional Training Course (BPTC) at Manchester Metropolitan University. He is also an Associate Law Lecturer for the Open University.
