Anisa Niaz practices in employment, immigration and prison law. She has a background in discrimination and asylum policy and was called to the Bar in October 2004. She completed pupillage at Doughty Street Chambers, London before joining Kenworthy's Chambers in January 2007.
After gaining an LLM in public law in 2000 she went on to work as a legal policy officer on the discrimination and asylum projects at JUSTICE, the all party law reform and human rights organisation. She then moved to the European Council on Refugees and Exiles (ECRE) in mid-2003 to work as a policy officer and from there to the Organisation for Security and Co-Operation in Europe's (OSCE) Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) before starting the bar vocational course (BVC) in September 2003. On completion of the BVC she worked as a Discrimination Policy and Legal Officer on age and race discrimination at the Policy Research Institute on Age and Ethnicity and then as a Discrimination Legal Policy Consultant for the 1990 Trust, where she headed up projects on the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) and for Citizens Advice on the ability of Bureaus around the UK to provide adequate practical advice on employment discrimination law.
Anisa has provided pro Bono advice and representation on employment law matters since 2003.
Anisa is a member of the Employment Lawyers Association.
