Experience:

Having been called to the Bar in 1997, Alison went on to work for a regional firm of Solicitors having day to day responsibility for their Crown Court department. She joined Chambers in 2000 and practices in the areas of Criminal and Coronial Law. She is considered by those with whom she works to be a tactically astute and committed professional who regards the interests of her clients to be of the upmost importance. Her skilful advocacy and sound judgement are complimented by a clarity of thought and attention to detail that are evident in her conscientious approach to case preparation.

Criminal practice:

Alison has extensive and broad experience of both the Crown and Appellate Courts. She undertakes both prosecution and defence work in cases of the upmost severity and complexity. In particular, Alison has a wealth of experience in matters of violent crime, serious assaults, sexual offences and drug related offences including large scale importation. Her work with young and vulnerable defendants and those with mental health issues who find themselves before the courts is of particular interest to her.

Inquest practice:
Alison has a comprehensive knowledge and considerable experience of proceedings before the Coroner's Court; in particular, inquests involving Article 2 issues. She has represented the interests of both families and employed personnel who find themselves involved in the process. She has frequently appeared in inquests concerning deaths which have occurred whilst the deceased was in the care of state.
She brings with her to this forum the skills gained in her Criminal Practice, in particular, her experience as a jury advocate over many years. She has the ability to deal with people who find themselves in what are often challenging and emotional circumstances in an intelligent, level headed yet compassionate manner.
