With over 20 years of Criminal Advocacy experience, Sara Haque is well known in the Crown Courts on the Northern Circuit. She has successfully built a heavyweight criminal practice and has a high success rate in defending cases of the utmost seriousness.

She has extensive and broad experience in both the Crown Courts and the Court of Appeal, defending in cases involving a wide range of offences including drugs importation and supply, historical sexual offences, and serious violent crimes.

Sara Haque can represent clients in cases involving general Crime, child abuse, child abduction, the Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA), money laundering and confiscation.

She believes thorough preparation, persuasive argument and simple hard work are the keys to her success. Her down-to-earth, approachable manner engages clients quickly, establishing an easy rapport.   • ‘Gay Honeypot Blackmail’ Case (2022): Blackmail case in which a gang attempted to extort money from married businessmen after having sex with them.
  • Britain’s Worst Cyberstalker (2022): Defended Matthew Hardy, an autistic stalker who had learning difficulties and mental health problems.
  • Murder Case (2021): The murder of Dr Saman Mir Sacharvi and her 14-year-old daughter Vian Mangrio by Shahbaz Khan. Khan’s wife, Rabia Shahbaz was found guilty of perverting the course of justice by giving a false alibi.
  • Aggravated Burglary and Conspiracy to Burgle (2020): A burglary gone wrong where eight men tried to break into a storage unit on a farm in Heywood which contained £800,000 worth of counterfeit cigarettes. Businessman Peter Cordwell died of a heart attack following trying to protect his storage unit with his son and the Security Guard and being violently attacked by the gang.
  • R v Gray (2016): Defended former Dental Nurse receiving a suspended sentence for series of robberies for pain killers.
  • R v Anderson (2016): Outraging public decency by behaving indecently.
