Crime is one of the main practices at Kenworthy's Chambers, which has a 45-year history prosecuting and defending a broad spectrum of serious offences. Reflecting its leading reputation, it attracts work from a wide range of instructing parties across the country. It has two CPS Grade 4 members who are eligible to handle work from the complex crime unit, as well as a dedicated team dealing with appeals against convictions and sentences. In 2014, defence practitioner Barry Grennan, who is experienced in nationally reported matters, secured an acquittal for William Harper in a historical sex abuse case. The set is experienced in fraud and serious crime, with notable instructions including a £2m mortgage fraud dispute and a 12-handed organised crime case. Some members also have expertise in sexual offences cases including historic sex abuse allegations.
