Underley Hall Residential School Trial Concludes at Carlisle Crown Court

by Kenworthy's Chambers 22/03/2018

The 6-week trial took place at Carlisle Crown Court and involved 4 former staff members and the former owner of the residential school, Underley Hall, in South Cumbria accused of child cruelty and assault charges dating from the 1970s and 1980s. The case emerged from "Operation Tweed", an investigation into historical abuse in care institutions in Cumbria by Cumbria Constabulary.

Patrick Williamson instructed by Thompsons Solicitors, secured an acquittal for his client, James Farish, who had been charged with assault against a former pupil. BBC News reports further here.
