Patrick Cassidy & Patrick Williamson Represent Midwives at Inquest into Death of Newborn Baby

Patrick Cassidy and Patrick Williamson, instructed by Emma Hulme of Thompsons Law, represented two midwives at a four-day Article 2 Inquest at Black Country Coroners Court.

The Inquest was into the tragic death of a newborn baby delivered in a birthing pool.

The inquest addressed issues surrounding the sufficiency of the staffing and equipment of the unit and the standard of care provided including NICE guidelines covering the sufficiency of the fetal heart readings and the appropriateness of resuscitation efforts.

As an Inquests and Regulatory Barrister, Patrick Williamson draws upon his expertise in Criminal Law when representing the victims’ families, institutions and employees. He has a working knowledge of Public Inquiries and considerable experience of proceedings before the Coroner's Court.
