David Morton Defends Student in Perverting the Course of Justice Trial

by Kenworthy's Chambers 04/10/2018

David Morton, instructed by Morton's Solicitors, defended their client Anna Bozek at her sentence hearing at Minshull Street Crown Court; Miss Bozek previously pled guilty to Conspiracy to Pervert the Course of Justice, contrary to section 1(1) of the Criminal Law Act 1977 after she had attended with her co-defendant, Malgoizata Baldyga, a victim's address asking to drop kidnap charges against their mutual friend.

The discussed kidnap charges against Andrej Kroll were made after the victim was beaten and forced into the boot of a car, following an argument at a petrol station when the victim had intervened between Kroll and the cashier. Kroll pleaded guilty to kidnap and perverting the course of justice and was sentenced to 3 years and 4 months imprisonment.

Bozek and Baldyga attended the address of the victim, after Kroll had asked his girlfriend to plead with the victim to drop the case against him; the two students explained to the victim how Kroll's girlfriend was pregnant and if he went to Prison he would not be able to see his child. Judge Baxter sentenced the two students to a 12 months community order with 100 hours unpaid work.
