Leona Bashow has developed a cross-practice in Immigration/Asylum and Family Law, following her 12-month pupillage under the supervision of Immigration Barrister, Mark Schwenk.

Prior to her pupillage, Leona worked as an accredited immigration adviser, first for the Immigration Advisory Service and then for Greater Manchester Immigration Aid Unit, a charity which specialises in representing people with immigration or asylum problems.

Lecture Experience
Leona's recent lectures include "Immigration Issues in Family Cases" and will be speaking on "Retained Rights" and "EU Law" in the upcoming Immigration Lectures. Her other work experience includes teaching EU law to GDL students at BPP.

Interests Out of Law
Leona loves literature and creative writing, a passion which flows from her time as an undergraduate studying English literature and History at the University of Edinburgh; one of her recent scripts has made it into the longlist for a BBC script writing competition. She also enjoys Shotokan karate, and is currently one grade below a black belt.
